Landscape Photos

This weeks assignment was challenging. I drove around for an hour looking for the perfect photograph. After a little while I realized that the perfect photograph is simply what you make of it. I chose the five photos I enjoyed the most and they are....

My intentions while taking these photos was to find something everyday, calming, neutral colors and beautiful. Picture one is a simple fence and trees. The second one is of the frozen lake, with an empty park bench with a beautiful deck and building in the background. Picture three is a winding road with trees. Picture four is a clear blue sky, beautiful blue tinted mountains (from the distance and lighting). Finally picture four is the three islands surrounded by frozen lake, trees and mountains.

  1. Nice job with your photos! I really like the first one, where the sun is casting unique shadows from the fence line. I had to look 3 times to notice the roof in the background!

I also like the photos of the far range mountains. Very beautiful.

  2. Amanda. Your photos give life to those things you see around you. Nice work. I really like the road sign and the road...it makes you feel like you need to be careful up ahead as you never know what is around the bend in the road! The yellow road sign gives a lot of contrast to the grey/black in the photo. I like the first photo with the fence. Gives a very strong line to your photo and it also as nice composition with RofT with the tree and the framing at the same nice. The little bit of color in the background adds a complementary color to the photo. Nice work.

  3. Great job! "...the perfect photograph is simply what you make of it." Grat way to look at photography. I like the shadows of the fence in the first photo, the sunlight coming from the left is really interesting. I think that this aspect alone really makes the composition of this photo. I also really like the one with the sign. The bright blue sky in the upper third of the photo helps draw attention and blends well with the white and gray of the snow and road while the yellow sign really pulls attention as well.

  4. Amanda, I really like how sharply the shadows contrast with the snow and the way they are so focused. I also think that the one with the yellow sign shows a nice example of an Analogous color scheme, where white and yellow are next to each other on the color wheel.

  5. Hi Amanda! I love your photos especially the one with curvy road. It would appear when you shot the photos you really took your time and chose carefuilly of which to shoot. I think I see the rule of thirds used a couple of times. all in all great photos! good job! :)

  6. Your ah-ha moment is a very important one. When people tell me there is nothing to photograph I remind them the unique photographer is looking at the world through different eyes than the regular snapshot taker. You're looking for the special, or the interesting composition, color scheme, lines, shapes, etc. The fence is probably my fave, mostly because it is sharp, has a great leading line, gorgeous color and contrast.
